huge fireball!!! was created by fguihen
comming home going home from Carrick on Shannon, at about half 9 ish, facing north, was the largest fireball i have ever saw. it lasted for at least 7 seconds. 3-4 pieces actually broke off it and burned up on the way before the main body of the object burned out. im sure it was quite high up, but it looked very very close. we nearly crashed the car looking at it! im thinking things like that are rare! did anyone else see that?

Nothing here, considering it was still evening twillight, I'd say you were lucky in a way to have spotted it.

I've seen several reports of this event today. One lady from Meath saw it. I was driving to an observing site and I saw the ground light up around us, but I didnt see the actual event.

A friend of mine spotted this from Menlo Galway as well. It was so large she actually thought it was a piece of an aircraft falling :o
