Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better programs, and the universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. So far, the universe is winning.

Hi all
Even though the weatherman said there was fog forecast it looked clear from south Dublin, so I set up in the back garden.
I'm going through the Messier list with my 80mm, and as I am on holidays from work, I didn't have to worry about getting up in the morning. Working from around midnight until 2.30, local time, I managed to bag the following:
M29 M10 M20 M16 M13 M56
M39 M14 M08 M26 M92 M57
M11 M22 M21 M25 M71
M12 M24 M17 M28 M27
I used magnifications between 15X & 49X
I was given a rare treat, as I was observing M57 a meteor shot across the field of view, it was brilliant white and I could see a faint pale blue colour as it faded.
There was one curious thing that I noticed when I was observing M25, I could see a replica of the Hercules constellation, it contained the Keystone, a little distorted maybe, but the limbs of the hero were clearly visible. Has anyone else noticed this? If you are out anytime soon and viewing M25 would you check it out.
Thanks
Paul

Wow. Fair play Paul. Nice list of objects there for one night!
Maybe that meteor was an early Perseid?

Nah, too far away Frank, by about 60 degrees of sky. There are minor Lyrid showers during the summer, but none compare to the April Lyrids. Otherwise, it would probably have just been a fine sporadic!
