Meteor or Satellite? was created by paulevans
Having set up the 'scope on Friday evening I enjoyed a quick visual tour around a few of the usual suspects - M27, M57, Albireo, M31, then attached the camera with a view to getting a good stack of exposures of the NGC7000 region.
Before I even started shooting the light cloud started coming over and by the time I'd got 10 shots it was obvious that it was all over
However, I looked at the shots anyway and this is shot 4 - 30secs f1.7 50mm lens...
So satellite or meteor? I checked Heavens-Above and it doesn't seem to be an Iridium. It has the "bright in the middle" profile of a meteor and indeed could be a late Perseid based on direction.
Anyone any idea?

For me Paul, It's a satellite, just on the fact that at it's end on the right, it seems to come to an abrupt stop, probably at the end of your exposure, otherwise a meteor would have a very sharp needle like head
Just mt opinion....keep shootin' !!

On the right, it might have been entering the Earths shadow if its a satellite, but why is it faint on the left, because of that it looks like a meteor to me.

Looks like a satellite to me, flaring slightly.
Whats causing the blue area in the top left?

A-ha - now I go with the Satellite theory - I hadn't thought to look at frame 5 as it looked to be burnt out by cloud but a quick stretch of the top 20% of the histogram reveals the following....
So I reckon all I've got there is a sat trail - ten a penny these days!
Frank, the blue glow is the amp glow from my sensor - I think Canons do it along the RHS of the picture - the Sony sensor in my camera puts it in the top left - I usually either crop it out of us a dark frame, just a bit of a nuisance.
