Occultation of Regulus Observed was created by JohnONeill
Hi,
Observed the lunar occultation of Regulus (7 Oct 2007). Used 12x36 binoculars.
At disappearance Regulus merged into the bright limb of the moon, but reappearance at dark limb was sudden and very dramatic.
Also did some (quick) photography with zoom telephoto lens set at up to 300mm.
(see irishastrosoc.org )
Some thin cloud present.
Worth it despite late nights at the WSP!

Well done on this observation and for the photo. Unfortunately from my location in Co. Meath I was thwarted by dense fog despite having been setup with telescope and video camera from just after 6am until my olfactory mechanism gave in to the smell of rashers and fried egg emanating from the house at 7:30am and I called it a day, I got nothing on video.
There were very brief glimpses of the Moon and Venus through the high level cloud and fog, but that was about it!
It was most frustrating as I would have liked very much to have a video record of this event from start to finish and to analyse it afterwards, ah well!
Well done again
Clear skies
