Hi all,
as I got home shortly after 4am this morning, I stood outside to watch for a few meteors, as this was pretty much Orionid maximum. Ronan text me from Crete where he said he got some really nice views of the skies there!
Without a word of a lie, I could only stand outside for less than 3 minutes as it was deceptively freezing! (The heavy rain only 3 hours before was totally gone) During this short period, I estimate on the magnitudes, but I saw a -2 Taurid cut through the Haydes, a +1 Aurigid, a -1 Orionid, a -5 Leonid (Pass right below the Beehive heading for Sirius) - this one left a tail bright green in colour for about 5 seconds, a 0 or -1 Cassiopeiaid, and a lovely +1 Canis Majorid!
I wish it wasn't so cold in a thin fleece and trousers!
Then I went to bed, nice and warm. I told my fiancée what I saw, and the sleepy 'thats nice honey' was all I got!
Seanie.

You'd think women would be a bit more appreciative, wouldn't you!

Great to see the some of yee saw something, me then me.
I remember that morning, it was bloody freezing, all the dew on the car had frozen..
Its predicted that this will be a particularily cold winter, GREAT, as long as some of those skies are clear
