Only had one clear patch in 6 weeks so going to make the best of this. Time to send those scopes out to cool...

Yep, looking good. Also looking very good for tomorrow night. Paul whats the transparancy like following the cloud? Has the wind tailed off behind the cloud? I reckon the clear skies should reach the east cost by 10pm or so.

Well the transparency is OK atm. Still a bit too windy but that should change in a couple of hours when wind speed is set to halve.

Judging by that it should be totally clear until at least 8 AM.
The wind is dropping alright but it's still pretty strong....and COLD!
I think I'll get the scopes out now just to cool down all the same.
BTW as for transparency... I could make out Holmes even after getting out
of the Jeep coming from Shopping in Town, no dark eye adaption and in streetlight.
It looks like a round puff of smoke. HUGE!
I must take a look later from a dark site up the road from me.

Well as promised the clearance hit the east coast at about 10pm. Prestine skies but still very windy. I'm glad I built the roof of the observatory so sturdy. It makes the difference between being able to go out on a windy night like this and not. I'm looking at guidestars right now and they ain't budging despite the strong gusts.
