Something VERY strange this evening near the moon.

About 5:50pm i saw a bright object pass horizontally just below the moon. Then it took a 90 degree turn and started to move towards the ground.

I couldnt judge size, distance etc.

All i can think it to be was a high flying bird illuminated by the setting sun.

It just seemed to be too big and bright to be a bird.

I am truely puzzled.

I've been thinking about this since it happened and all i can think off is that it was a balloon very high up and was caught in a cross wind that knocked it off course so it appeared to make a 90 degree turn.

Interesting PJ. I'm surprised there weren't the usual quips like a distant bird, balloon, and so on. Can't comment on it myself.

Maybe cuz its NOT strictly to do with astronomy.

It really just did look so strangfe that i thought maybe some else saw it at the same time.

I've ruled out a bird.......................it was too high up.

Alls i can think is a white balloon very high up floating in one direction then a cross wind hit it and from tera firma it appeared to do a 90 degree turn.

Was pretty weird all the same.
