Wonder what this was? was created by cjbigboy
Was outside briefly last night as it was so clear, but didn't take scope out due to the high wind.
Was looking up towards Saturn at 9.55pm looking south ish when an object I'm guessing a Satellite moving in an approx South to North trajectory flared up like an Iridium approx -2 before getting dimmer again, however I came in and checked Heavens Above there was nothing, so wonder what it was.
It was travelling at some rate too!
Sadly haven't had the scope out in over a month, started new job and I'm knackered all the time, getting withdrawal symptoms!!
cheers

It must have been another satelite which happened to reflect something at you.

Almost certainly you caught a glint from the SL-14 rocket booster. It was in exactly the right place at the time you mention. These rocket casings tumble and as such can catch a glint of sunlight and flare like an iridium.
This particular one is casing from an SL14 launch on July 28th 1986. (NORAD ID 16882)
