Dear friends ... and especially Mr Euronymous, Sir!

One of the latest exoplanet discoveries is TrES-3 in Hercules. With a magnitude of 12.17 for the parent star and a depth of 25 mmag for the transitting exoplanet, this was to be a serious test for my 6.3" apochromatic refractor due to its relatively small aperture.

As we all know, no pain, no gain.

Wow Anthony well done, that looks fantastic. :o

A quick question for you:
I see that just after the 'Pred ingress' , the point rise a little - why is this?

Again great result.

Regards
John

If you look at the size of the error-bars though that little rise could just be noise rather than something real. You have to be very careful when the error is so big.

Fantastic observation though, must be great to say that you observed a planet around another star! Who'd have thought amateurs would ever get to do that!

Congrats Anto :D

Good data there looks fairly incontrevertible - didn't know this was possible with a 6" refractor.

Look forward to seeing you on Mt. Parnon in June - maybe you can give me some pointers on what kind of projects I can work on with the tools I have. Kaleeni'cta (hope I've spelled that right  ).

The lesson to be learned is this:

Thanks to very advanced and inexpensive technology amateurs can now do REAL science once again.

Instead of just being de-facto "Onlookers and Artists".
