Any Noctilucent Clouds spotted yet? was created by Seanie_Morris
I am just back today from a 2 week stint in Canada (Hamilton, Ontario - 43.25° N, 79.83° W), and swore I spotted a brieft NLC display on Saturday night. The problem was that due to the high temperatures that day (31+ degrees Celcius), the night time sky was very hazy. Even the Moon had a bit of a fog around it in the twilight. So, what I thought were NLC's may not have been. I am not 100% sure if Hamilton's latitude is even favourable or not. The shots with the 350D revealed nothing conclusive.

So, anyone else spot any NLC's yet? They can be quite elusive.

Under clear skies and with a good view of the northern horizon such clouds are two-a-penny in Connemara in late June.

Because of the latutude (53.3 degrees north) the midsummer sun is just over 13 degress below the horizon and can easily illuminate high clouds as seen from this latitude.

On cloudless nights it doesn't get dark at all and you can see the sun creeping across the northern horizon, just out of view.

Donegal has an even better view.

"Townies" (deprived people reared under streetlights) always marvel at this.
