A few sunny moments in a grey week

It is difficult to get the h alpha color rendered correctly. I like to try different mediums to develop the color and the texture. Not quite there as yet at the moment.

Cloud in between sketches , then rain, then nothing since, day or night
what a pain in the brain. Not much hope for the alignment this evening, so many of these moments lost to bad weather this year.

They are nice sketches. What are you using, Pastels?

Most of the time I do use pastels, but for these sketches I used conte crayons. They come in foam boxes like the ones in the photo.
They come in a variety of colors, the ones in the photo are grey, black and white. I use red, orange and yellow for solar sketches, and a million different greys for lunar sketches.



Sometimes I use ink, like for this one on May 15th. I like to experiment.

I love the ink pic inparticular. My sketches look awful even before comparison. I should set about practicing.
