Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better programs, and the universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. So far, the universe is winning.

Hi all
Keith, you'll like this one.
Set up the scope tonight, not great seeing but I just wanted to see something. Performed the 3 star alignment, dialled in M57 to check the accuracy, in my 8mm Hyperion it was bang in the middle, beautiful.
I set out to grab some doubles in Delphinus, sketched three, dialled in the co-ordinates for number 4 when the scope decided that it was try for Sigma Octantis, the southern pole star. When it had stopped slewing my diagonal was pointing at the sky and the objective gave a lovely view of the ground.
My Power Tank ran out of juice, so, like the LHC, I had no power.
I turned my CG-5 equatorial mount into an alt-az and roamed around the sky. I stopped off at the usual suspects, M31, M15, the Double Cluster, so it wasn't a complete disaster.
It's looking at me know from the kitchen with it's red eye as it recharges.
Still, you have to laugh, it beats the alternative.

Well what can you do. its happened to all of us at one stage or another.
One thing I'm doing with the battery these days is let it trickle charge for a few hours during the day if possible before I go and use it that night, it gives it that extra punch. I'll be doing that tomorrow in the hope it'll be clear at WSP tomorrow night.

I bought one of the Kendrick power packs probably over 18 months ago. The charger is permanently plugged into it and I've never had an issue. They're not cheap but...
