Opinion On Video was created by adam
I'm thinking this is Venus but as I'm not very up on the astronomy myself i was just looking for some feedback.
Spotted: 14th December 2008 at 6.30ish in a south west direction.
Your best off jumping to around 3.30 into it.(warning: there is one or two curse words in it)

Thanks in advance.

Looks like Venus to me since it appears to show phase on the left.

yea, it could be,
IF you recorded a bright star like object in the SW recenty, then its Venus.

I'd be 99.9% sure it was Venus you recorded there.
At that time and date it would have been where you say
and it would have a phase to the left which you can see
in your video when it's in focus.
Try videoing it again this month and you will see it is
now bigger in size but
the phase is more pronounced.
A look through regular binoculars will show this plainly.
As the planet gets closer the phase will increase
I recorded this last year and was fun to watch the changes month on month:

99% sure its Venus, What I'm 100% sure of is the reason it looks so wierd and seems to change shape and size and colour is the video camera is having difficulty focussing and is changing the focus all the time to compensate. At various stages of the video the camera gets the focus wrong and what you get is a defocussed planet. You can clearly see the recognisable pattern of diffraction caused by the lens.
