C/2007Lulin N3 in Leo March 1st 2009 22:15UT Transparency bad, seeing bad.
Nucleus visible , no tail visible to me at all.
Very wide dim but visible coma, with some bright patches within it.
15X70 Binoculars Photo of sketch
Pastel plus white gel pen
C/2007 N3 Lulin in Cancer March 5th 2009 23:55 UT Seeing good, Transparency bad, 8 day moon, two street lights, general light pollution. No nucleus visible to me, no tail visible to me , but nice to see it in the same field of view as M44 .
Lulin presented dimmer , but broader , it would have filled the space between the triangle of stars above it. Short time to sketch it due to approaching clouds again.

Deirdre --
Glad you got a couple of sketches in before Lulin passes on!
You do appear to be suffering some pretty serious extinction there between the moon and your light pollution. (And to think I complain about my skies!)
Cheers,
-- Jeff.
PS: It's funny, I used the same triangle of stars (at the bottom of M44) to scale Lulin's size.

Yes Jeff that would be extinction in Jurassic proportions
I think the sketches make the point that you can only draw what you can see, observations have to be exact even tho they may not be showing all there is to see. These are exact for the conditions prevailing at the time. Perhaps when the moon is out of the picture and Lulin is still visible a dark place will do it for me.
