Frank --
I think the moon would have looked nice white on black, but I do find pastel pencils more difficult to work with. (I've been getting some practice with them with my solar sketches, so hopefully that will change at some point.)
I'm also not sure how I'd handle the trees -- perhaps a medium black paper with the moon and clouds in white and the trees in black ink. (I haven't done anything in ink since my last drafting job -- while still in secondary school.)
-- Jeff.

If you don't mind me making another suggestion Jeff.
The trees seem to 'float' in the page.
Maybe next time try and have them going off the page
to give a sense of foreground.
Acrually sometimes only a 'suggestion' of trees
(a few well placed strokes) can be all that is needed.
It's all trial and error really,

fantastic sketch
never thought to do it that way
well known appearance, that full moon closely above the horizon, also thinking about the optical illusion always happening of being bigger

That optical illusion always gets me.
I had a look at the Moon rising last night and
it really always is an inspiring sight.
Great idea Jeff to sketch it.

Thanks, guys!
(And another good tip from Frank. I do agree that it looks better with the tops of the trees "anchored".)

Interesting... running the trees off the edge also centers the focus of attention more on the moon.
