Sketch from last night was created by Frank Ryan
My scanner is dead so this is a photo of a sketch of the Moon.
(ahh, I just can't put that camera down!)

It took about an hour and it was nice to be able to
sit in comfort out the back of the house without the
constant fear of rain or a hurricane etc shutting things down.

This is one of two I did,
forgive me for I know not what the region is called but I selected
it simply coz it looked interesting with nice contrasting shadows,
(lunar buffs now's your chance to name that crater!)

Various black Charcoals on white 150g cartridge.

I have to agree with Dee, that's Eratosthenes with the Montes Apeninus running between Mare Imbrium and Sinus Aestuum (Bay of Billows). Doesn't the moon have the greatest named features around, Lake of Death, Marsh of Decay, Lake of Suffering, for the morbid. Bay of Rainbows, Lake of Tenderness, Lake of Happiness for the romantic.

Anyway, that's a great sketch Frank showing some fine details and the fact you derived such pleasure from completing it simply adds to the overall effect.

I had a look on Wikipedia and sure enough I can confirm that what
I was looking at was indeed Eratosthenes.
(thanks for figuring that one out lads)
I could see ejecta rays all right near it that didn't look like they
originated from it but now I can see they were from Copernicus.
Funny enough, Copernicus did catch my eye but I think because
of the angel of the sunlight, Eratosthenes was more stark in contrast,
It's fascinating how different these areas look from night to night.
