Hello,
My astrophotography usually centers around imaging the h-alpha Sun using a Coronado PST and SPC900NC webcam. However, during the past week I've had a go at imaging Jupiter using the same webcam attached to my 8" Meade.

8" Meade SCT.
SPC900NC webcam.
HandyAVI capture software, to record 600 frames.
Registax5 to stack frames.
Photoshop Elements 4, final adjustments.
I was also able to image the imapct site on 29 July at 23:52UT and using the freeware application WinJUPOS, I found its coordinates to be L2 = 216.6 degrees +/- 2 degrees and Latitude -57.6 degrees +/- 2 degrees.
Below is a reduced sized image showing the impact site with a link to the full size version -

Kindest regards,
Dave

Nice one Dave, how visible was the impact site through an eyepiece, is it the same as last week or is it fading ??

Hi Dave,
I actually never got time to remove the webcam to look at Jupiter visually. At the time the seeing was poor with very strong atmospheric turbulence and cloud rolling in. However, in my humble opinion the SPC900NC can record more detail than can be seen visually through the eyepiece.
I'm back at work now after the holidays so I'm hoping for clear nights over the weekend to allow me to have a proper look.
CM transit times for the impact site below -
August 5, 4:59 and 14:54;
August 6, 0:50, 10:46 and 20:41;
August 7, 6:37 and 16:32;
August 8, 2:28, 12:24 and 22:18;
August 9, 8:15 and 18:20;
August 10, 4:06, 14:01, 23:57;
August 11, 9:53 and 19:48;
August 12, 5:42 and 15:39;
August 13, 01:35, 11:31 and 21:26;
August 14, 7:22 and 17:17;
August 15, 3:13, 13:08, 23:04.
Kindest regards,
Dave
