Last night was my first chance to use a 16" Dob. This telescope was kindly loaned to me by another IFAS Member.. Can you imagine my frustration when I found that my privit hedge was just inches to high to catch a glimpse of Jupiter....Neighbours must have thought me mad when they seen me with the Shears at 10.00pm trimming the top  .....Anyway not withstanding the Moon, a great view of the planet despite being low on the horizon.:woohoo:

Perhaps you could do a bit of weeding at the same time eh...
I was out the other night looking at Jupiter and put the dust cap on the windowsill while using the scope. When I picked the dust cap up later it had two slugs on the inside which I nearly didn't notice - yuck.
Btw, Jupiter and the Moon looked lovely (thru the clouds) last night.....

The house three doors down from us was sold recently and the new owners quickly set about removing a lot of hedging and large shrubs and I now have a much improved view to the south.

I only worry now if they think that the bright streetlight outside across the street from their back garden isn't enough and install a 500 watt searchlight.

Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better programs, and the universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. So far, the universe is winning.
