Three Clusters From 8th November 2009

Hi all

Got out last night for the first time in some weeks and pottered around Cassiopeia and Cepheus to come up with these.

Hope you like them.

IC 1396 in Cepheus.



I liked sketching this object for some reason, maybe it was the nice little triple star system at the centre.

NGC 663 in Cassiopeia.



NGC 129 in Cassiopeia.



There were a couple of nice pale orange stars in this cluster.

It was a little misty but not too bad.

:kiss: the triple in ic 1396 is stunning

another marvelous scene in the middle of an open cluster is the pretty white close double (Struve 485) in NGC 1502! One of them is the variable SZ Cam, bouncing between mag. 7.0 and 7.3 in a period of only 2 days.

I'll put NGC 1502 on the sketch list.

I use a sketch pad and pencil in the field Michael, then transfer it to Photoshop where I can add colour and the fuzzy star effect.

Very nice, beats my coloured pencils hands down! I'm grateful you posted them up, it's given me the inspiration to sketch these over the coming days and do a quick comparison - please keep sharing....
