Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better programs, and the universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. So far, the universe is winning.

Hi all
I got the chance to observe the Orion Nebula for the first time this winter last. I have to say that this is the best that I've seen it. I've seen it in a ten inch scope in the past, last night I used the twelve inch dob with the 13mm Nagler, the combination of the larger scope and a premium eyepiece was just stunning. The detail that I could pick out was astounding and I'm itching to get out and sketch it.

Hi all
I got out early this morning and grabbed a sketch of the nebula.
Hope you like it.
There was so much detail to be seen that I'm sure I missed plenty of it. There is a patch of nebulosity around the bright star halfway between the Trapezium and the five of clock position and I'm not sure it can be seen properly.
Thanks for looking.

Very nice Paul,
I was out until 1AM looking at Mars. It clouded over at that point so I went in. Was it clear or partly clear at 1:30 out your way?
I did see three Geminids and a sporadic tho'.
Michael.

Thanks Michael
The clouds came and went, around a quarter to two it clouded over so I called it a night.
