Meteor in Clare?

I received the email below today. It sounds like a firework to me but did anyone else see it?
Thanks,
Michael.
Hi there,
I have a quick question about a meteor viewing on Saturday 01.05.2010 in Fanore, Co. Clare. around 10:00pm.
We were walking on the street when we heard a noise. This noise came from the meteor. It was impressive - I have never seen/heard anything like it. We could follow the object for a while before it exploded in the skys. The leftovers were still pretty big and we could see them before they vanished behind a nearby hill. It all seemed very close. I dont know how long it last for but I think it was several seconds.
Do you have any information about that or know where I could get information about the viewing?
Thanks a lot,
Stephan

What time did they see it?
The Eta Aquarid meteor Shower was at it's peak on the 6th.

It was also low in the sky which may account for them seeing
a meteor break up and go 'behind' the hill.
As for the Earthquake...
I fear it may be connected to the Volcano etc...
Not happy about this.....

I missed that..
I did a radio slot last month on Clare FM
and one person texed in to say they had seen a
Really Bright UFO object in the sky that one min
was there hanging there and the next.. (half an hour later)
it was gone and they wanted to know was it a
'Shooting Star'
mmmmm
OK
Venus....
never heard it described as that before but you just gotta
be careful with how lay people describe objects they are not
familiar with.
