For the first time in my 20 years of skywatching saw something that I didn't recognise tonight, any ideas???
Thurs 1st july 11.45 pm, from Timoleague, Co Cork, I saw what seemed to be a VERY fast satellite, traveling west to east directly overhead, it was brightening and dimming as if spinning rapidly every 1 or 2 secs and moved from about 40-45 degs up in the west to around 30 degs in the east in around 8-10 secs, then faded, it was much, much faster than anything I have seen before, and it certainly didn't look like any kind of meteor or fireball. I am guessing it was about magnitude 0 (bit less than vega). I was so spellbound I don't even know if these figures are correct. If anyone has any answers please, please put me out of my misery.
EDIT
Want to add to this I'm guessing after all this must have been the ISS and must have over estimated the speed though having seen it on numerous occations have never not recognised it, now I want to know if anyone saw it on that pass and was it brightening and dimming every 1-2 secs???
