Hi,
A few short notes of the Eclipse Trip:
Back after a great trip on the Aranui 3 Freighter/Cruise Ship around French Polnesia - lots of interesting islands. We had an uninterupted view of the eclipse from sea. Beautiful coronal streamers and two sparkling diamond rings, shadow bands as well. One (slight) downside was thay my DSLR bit the dust (under heavy tropical rain) a few days earlier. I got a few shots with Sara's point & shoot camera.
See my new website www.variablestarnights.net
Also see under 'Lunar Eclipses' for an image of the 26 June 2010 partial lunar eclipse, the DSLR was working then.
Also see under 'Sky Views' for an image of the Green Flash.
The southern stars were also fabulous.
Daniel & Thomas (also on the Aranui 3) send you their regards,
John & Sara

Hi John,
Good to hear that you had good weather.
Pity about the camera but it just meant that you could sit back and enjoy the eclipse all the more.
Michael.
