Dwarf Nova SS Cygni in outburst

The Dwarf Nova SS Cygni in now in outburst. I estimated it as mag 8.2 last night.

John - what would its quiescent mag be?

Hi Dave,

The quiescent is a hair below mag 12, while the usual outburst max is 4 mags brighter. There can also smaller maxima of just 1-2 mags amplitude. Also the length of time at maxima can vary.
