Hi Theo
Those are really fantastic videos. I have watched them a few times to try and grasp the enormity of the scale and energy involved. I am amazed how much imaging technology has progressed over the years to produce such fine images.
BTW, the videos eventually worked. My computer automatically downloaded the necessary software, “Adobe Shockwave” I believe was the necessary software. There seems to be a problem with the very last video, I just get a white window and nothing else.
I have little knowledge of solar dynamics, so apologies if these questions seem mundane or erroneous. From your knowledge and experience Theo, do you think that the upcoming solar maximum will be very energetic or will it be quite and uneventful or somewhere in between? As I understand it the solar minimum was around the year 2000 while the solar maximum will be 2011, it’s strange that we have had reports so soon of northern lights here in Ireland so the Sun must be active to a certain level already to produce northern lights at out latitude. Do you think there is any correlation between solar minimums and solar maximums on Earths climate?
Best wishes and clear skies

I believe this solar maximum will be stronger than the last.
