Burren Starparty 2011 success was created by dave_lillis
Hi all,
Many thanks to those who came along to this years Burren Starparty, we were rained out on Friday night but Saturday was clear up until 1am or so.
The milkyway blazed across the sky, the cygnus rift was clearly visible as were some of the starfields towards saggitarius.
Many sights were observed including globular clusters, nebula, double stars, several meteors and Jupiter was also seen .
The highlights for the night included comet Garradd alongside the coathanger and the supernova 2011fe in M101 which was very easily seen as the brightest star in that galaxy.
(for supernova map see
www.stationmaine.org/vsn/pic/var/sn2011fe.jpg )

So again, many thanks to all who came along and we look forward to seeing you all under clear skies at BSP2012  .

Fab weekend. Most easygoing stress free event we've ever organised!
It was really great to see the car park filled with cars & scopes.
(though Fri was a washout) Saturday night was great fun.
There was a real buzz about the site and so many objects observed.
It was fun as always to give newcomers thier first tour of the sky,
and what a sky to give them!
Milky way right down to the horizon, always an amazing sight.
Fair play to the lads from the other clubs that came especially the
boys from the North.
The Burren is 35 min from my house but you guys had to drive 5hrs!!
Kudos t'yee.
First year I didnt take a single shot thru the scope or camera
I didnt want to waste time on only taking pics when the observing was soo good.
Fair play to everyone that pitched in organizing it also.
Wrecked today but worth the pain.
Roll on BSP12!

Great observing spot, and fantastic view of the milky way. I would wish that such events were more frequent...

Hi,
I'm glad you guys enjoyed the event.
Looking at the weather on Friday and since, we were absolutely blessed with the clear sky we got !! :bricks:
We regularily go up there for club observing sessions, and will continue to do so, if your're ever nearby on a clear weekend, go over to the clubs website and drop someone an email, you're more then welcome to come along.
