Shot of the Aurora (9th March 2012) was created by JohnONeill
Hi,

I managed to get a few shots of the aurora. Happened to be above the clouds at 10600m !

I have put one image at: Variable Star Nights

The aurora itself was easy to see, the green colour very evident, despite the moonlight.

Well this was the best I could manage from the ground - taken from Ballygalley on the Antrim Coast Road at 2000 - ie before moonrise. It was fading at this point. Sony A700 24mm 30sec f2.8 ISO3200. Was visible as a faint white glow to the naked eye.

Sorry Paul but actually looks like sky glow as opposed to an aurora
glow. Something I picked up before on a high ISO Exposure.

Nice Photos John where were they taken?

Did anyone see the fake aurora photos from Donegal? Its sad to
see people who obviously have never seen a decent aurora
display to send that into RTE. Again people jumping on the
band wagon, I wonder what we will see next from Donegal
as there trying to cash in on this. Well that's my opinion I might
be wrong.
