Venus observation was created by flt158
I have just come in from observing Venus. She was mag -4.1, <2.5% illuminated, <28,000,000 miles away and 56" diameter. Truly spectacular!! The thinnest crescent I have seen for a long, long time. I am thinking of bringing Valerie and my 6.2" apo to the Sugarloaf on Thursday to observe both Venus and Mercury. Does anyone wish to join us? I must finish at 10.30pm. I'm busy in the job on Friday.

Good man Brendan. Nice to know someone else was watching Venus. And tonight, if it stays clear, the planet will be less than 2% illuminated. I'm going out again. I saw no ashen light last night at 167X. I shall check again tonight.
I hope to see Mercury joining Venus on Thursday night also. Mercury is magnitude -2!

No Venus for me tonight. Perhaps someone else saw it. Too much haze -it seemed. I was very keen to observe it -but never mind.
P.S. -If anyone would like to have a shot at seeing Venus and Mercury at the Sugarloaf on Thursday night, please do reply to this post.
