At 10.56pm tonight I have just witnessed the most amazing fireball display I have ever seen!
I could not believe my eyes when I witnessed at least 20! Slow moving orange/red coloured fireballs
originating from the constellation Perseus in the northeast night sky blazing a trail of meteors moving west
over the plough and beyond over my western horizon. Each meteor must have been at least magnitude -2
in brightness and were grouped closely together over an area of about 5 degrees north/south. The whole event lasted for roughly 30 seconds with no sound or 'sonic boom' heard.

This meteor group stretched from east/west over at least 15 degrees. Obviously it was a break up of a small space rock or man made space debris. It lasted so long it was like something from the movies.

What an incredible sight!!!!! Did anybody else see this?

Hi Keith, did not see it myself but my good wife on her way home from her Mother's did
and she described it exactly like you said.
She said it was like something out of the movies and was visible for at least 30 seconds
and even had time to phone me to check it out as they stopped the car to watch it.
As she witnessed it from Dublin I reckoned it was heading towards Cavan or further in that direction.
Cheers
Tony
