Hi Paul,
I was out in the back garden on Friday night, and, prompted by your post, took the opportunity to chase after some doubles in Triangulum. The following is the list - I'm afraid it is nowhere near as evocative as your report. I had just got a copy of "Double stars for small telescopes" by Sissy Haas and had transcribed the most promising ones in Triangulum into the planning software. It's good book by the way - excellent for a double star observer like you. If you haven't already got it, consider adding it to your letter to Santy.
STF158 Barely split at 200X, very faint pair.
STF183 Nice, unequal yellow/yellow pair, the middle of a line of three stars.
Epsilon Tri Bright white primary, with very faint secondary, just detectable in the correct position. Took some time to spot the secondary - a tough challenge.
STF219 Yellowish/white pair, easily split at 100X, relatively faint and unremarkable.
Iota Tri Lovely pair. Bright, yellow primary and a somewhat fainter, but still bright, secondary that appears to have a distinct greenish tinge. Close, but nicely resolved at 100X.
STF232 Pretty, equal, pair of white stars, nicely separated at 100X. A wide angle eyepiece at this magnification would put them in the same field as the gorgeous Iota Tri.
STF239 Slightly unequal pair of pale yellow stars - nice at 100X - better at 50X when it can be seen at the corner of a prominent right angle triangle made with a bright white and a nice orange star.
STF246 Faint, somewhat unequal, pale yellow/white pair, 25' NE of Delta Tri.
STF269 Barely resolved at 256X in moments of better seeing. Yellow primary with fainter grayish secondary.
15 Tri Extremely wide even at 32X. Very nice nonetheless becasue the primary is a bright golden star and the secondary, while a little less bright, is distinctly bluish.
STF285 Very close pair of yellow stars, just, but clearly, resolved at 256X.
I then spent some time in Andromeda, and here are the best bits:
SU And Relatively bright, deep copper coloured star.
WDS00049+4540 Faint, pale yellow primary, with very faint grey companion, resolved at 100X, better at 200X.
STTA256 Pair of identical white stars, very wide even at 32X. Too wide to make an attractive binary.
WDS00100+4623 Unequal, moderately faint, pale yellowish pair, nice and tight at 100X, better at 200X.
WDS00167+3638 Yellowish primary, with a very faint bluish secondary glimpsed at 200X, steady at 256X.
ADS246 Faint deep orange primary, with distant, very faint, reddish secondary.
STF24 White/yellowish , somewhat unequal pair, very close at 100X.
GCVS10042 Quite bright now - approx. mag 8.5-9 - and deep red-orange - very fine.
AC1 In the centre of a Y shaped asterism with a bright yellow star at one end. Tight at 200X, Better at 256X. Hint of yellow in primary, and hint of blue in the fainter secondary.
VSX70 Deep red-orange in a very sparse field.
WDS00314+3335 Bright yellowish primary with much fainter white companion, widely separated at 50X.
WDS00327+2312 White primary, secondary barely detectable. Both seem much fainter than the magnitudes indicate. Very wide.
STF40 Unequal pair, golden primary with a yellowish secondary, quite wide at 100X. Nice.
Pi And Brilliant steely white primary, with much dimmer grey companion, better at 50X than 100X because of wide split.
STF47 Unequal pair with a white primary and a bluish secondary, nice at 50X.
How is your new eyepiece performing?
I hope to get out and meet up with you guys again soon, work pressure has been crazy this month, so I've been too knackered to get out.
Cheers,
Mike

Hi Michael,
I love the images, especially the one with Gemini, Auriga and Taurus - the tracking is really good with the Astrotrac. I was amazed at how much light pollution shows up in the images. Anyone fancy a session on Rockall, maybe it's dark there.
Keep them coming Michael.
Cheers,
Mike
