Eclipse chasers check in ... was created by johnflannery
hi all,

I heard from Terry Moseley over the weekend about his successful viewing of the total solar eclipse from Queensland. He wrote;

"Hi John, Angela & I got a fabulous view from about 100 miles inland. It seemed huge due 2 the Moon Illusion effect. Beautiful corona & prominences. Most others saw at least some of totality, though there was cloud near coast. Regards 2 all. Please pass on. T & A."

Also, Daniel Lynch, Derek Buckley, and some students from Gonzaga College were successful too. They took detailed video of the eclipse for a project being entered in the 2013 Young Scientists Exhibition.

I haven't heard from Valerie & Aubrey, Sara & John (O'Neill), or Francis & Ray Lally yet but hope they got a good view. Some people didn't see totality as a cloud moved over the eclipsed Sun at the wrong moment.

We had a group of about 50 girl guides and their leaders at Dunsink Observatory and were able to link to the SLOOH live coverage. It was a terrific experience for the kids and all would love to see an eclipse for real.

John
