Fireball Seen Over Cork was created by cianoregan
At 21:10 this evening(Wednesday December 4), while setting up my telescope to view Orion :scope: , I witnessed a bright fireball which was significantly brighter than Venus, lasted 5-6 seconds, and left a smoke trail in its wake.
It appeared at an approximate altitude of 30° above the western horizon, below the star Markab in Regulus. It lasted for around 5 seconds, and then disappeared approx. 20° above the western horizon.
I have reported it to Astronomy Ireland.
Anyone else see it? If you were outside at the time you wouldn't have missed it.
Cian

Thanks Cian
Cherryvalley observatory based in Meath has a sky monitoring system which covers both north and north-east directions, unfortunately it seems like I missed this meteor event! Michael O’Connell’s camera in Kildare also covers north-east. Would be very interesting if anyone got a video or image of the event!
Best wishes and clear skies

Fingers crossed it was recorded somewhere. Someone on boards.ie also spotted the meteor, but it seems like I may have been a little off in my estimate of time. I did not check what time it was because I had my phone inside, but the other person who saw it(his visual description matches mine) thinks it happened at around 9:40-9:50 p .m. I think he's right about the time.

No record of it on my meteor camera unfortunately.
This is why we could do with more camera systems...
