For me it was a pair of observing nights, the first was in June, short nights and all that, but I got a nice opportunity to observe Scorpius to the south, the highlight of that particular night was the beautiful double-double that comprises Xi Scorpii and STF 1999 that are visible in the same field. Xi is a delightful yellow-white pair and STF 1999 an even more beautiful yellow-orange combination. Both sets have bright members with wide separations. I managed a declination of -28 that night.

August brought Sagittarius to the same part of the sky, that night there was another example of a double-double with S715 & S716 visible in the same field, both are ordinary white stars, but it's just a pleasure to get two pairs in the same field.

Why I picked these two particular nights was that I am lucky enough to have a small window of opportunity to the south of the house, between neighbour's houses and the trees, it's not a large window, it does offer some possibilities to explore a region that I would have to travel to the countryside to get.

I have been having a little fun thinking up different, and sometimes terrible, titles for my reports, you have to laugh, or cry. I have not had much time to observe lately, so there are plenty more dreadful titles running around in my head.

Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better programs, and the universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. So far, the universe is winning.

Keep those funny titles coming, Paul. You cheer me up big time. And I must thank you for getting me and my 6.2"apo on M4 and M80 in Scorpius during summer at the Sugarloaf car park.
I, too, have trees and a neighbour's house to content with sometimes. I observed R Leporis and Neptune thanks to a gap at various occasions recently.

Good to hear from you, Emelyn. That was a good night we had alright. M4 in the scorpion was a joy to find.
