Bonus finish to 2103 Years observing. was created by donalmcnamara
Despite the forecast I managed to get a 2 hour clear spell tonight without a moon. After a quick stop at Jupiter, I did the H400 targets in Taurus. OK there were only two of them, but they looked great. Focusing on M36 in Auriga when the clods and rain came back. Nice way to finish the year. And now to start celebrating....
Anyone else get luck tonight?

Tell us more about those H400's in Taurus, Donal. What are they? It was totally overcast on new year's eve in south Dublin unfortunately.

Hi Aubrey,
I am using the H400 lists per constellation that are available on the Sky Safari web site. I find that most of these items are within reach of my 8 inch New for my light pollution.
The two objects were NGC 1647, a Mag 6.4 open cluster and NGC 1817 a Mag 7.69 open cluster. The latter was a maze of clusters with NGC 1807 and Cr65 close by.

Thank you, Donal, for the explanation. I only looked at NGC 1746 recently. I must look at NGC 1807 and NGC 1817 some time soon. And I did observe NGC 1647 also. There appears to be plenty of open star clusters in the Bull.
I must mention,Donal, if you like double stars, there is a double -double in Taurus -Struve 7 and Struve 401 positioned near the Pleiades. I impressed my wife Valerie with them tonight before the rain came. They both fit in the field of view at 30 -40X.
