The Moon, Uranus and 5 doubles was created by flt158
Oooo what a Tuesday night I have just had. Between 5 and 7pm, I observed the almost half Moon, Uranus and 5 doubles stars all in Pisces.
The 6 -day old Moon was in the constellation of Pisces, and I found me a new valley -Vallis Capella. It is 110 kms long and it heads southwards into the crater Capella. Both Rupes Altai and Vallis Rheita were easy to see too. But how about this? 6 mountains in 2 craters. I studied the big craters Theophilus and Cyrillus and could see 3 central peaks in each!!
The Moon was is a haze for a while, but eventually the haze dissipated and I found Uranus just 4 degrees from the Moon. I observed the planet and our Moon at 11X in the guidescope in the same field of view! And then followed Uranus up through 40X, 112X, 140X, 167X, 225X and 280X. Uranus' disc was lovely, round and pale green at the high magnifications.
To my amazement with my Guide 8 map in hand, I went through 5 doubles all around this compact area surrounding our Moon and Uranus. This is the list:
1. 51 Piscium: White and blue: 5.7& 9.5. Sep: 27". Split @ 40X and 112X.
2. Zeta Piscium: White and white: 5.2 & 6.2. Sep: 22". Split @ 11X and 40X. Best pair of the night.
3. 77 Piscium: Yellow and yellow: 6.4 & 7.3. Sep: 33". Split @ 11X and 40X.
4. 34 Piscium. White and blue: 5.4 & 9.4. Sep: 7.6: Split@ 112X. Closest pair of the night.
5. 42 Piscium: Yellow and white. 6.4 & 10.3. Sep: 28". Split @ 40X and 112X.
Another historic evening for me and a 6.2" Apo.
Thank you for reading this report.
Aubrey.
