Jupiter Easter Monday was created by flt158
I didn't think it was going to be getting clear tonight (Easter Monday). But I did have a 30 minute look at Jupiter and easily saw Ganymede's shadow. It was the only shadow I had not seen this season so I was delighted to make the complete set. The shadow was the South Tropical Zone.
Also I could make a very small white oval in the south equatorial belt. I was using 225X.

Hi Aubrey,
I'm currently out looking at Jupiter and right now there are no shadow transits unfortunately, but there is a very cool arrow formation with the 4 moons, with Jupiter on the arrow. Well done on catching the Ganymede shadow transit,
Not a massive amount of disk detail is visible as its really starting to set now.

Hi Dave. Ganymede's shadow came off Jupiter at 22.32. Europa is about to pass in front of Jupiter.

P.S. and not to hijack your thread, if you can go back outside and look at Mars, then you'll see syrtis major dead center of the planet, its very obvious and the 2 polar caps are blindingly obvious, the best I've seen this planet in years,

Good man, Dave. I did observe very well Syrtis Major and the North Polar Cap on Good Friday night. I went up to 280X. Unfortunately the "south polar cap" is the highland Hellas. The South Polar Cap is not visible. It is behind Mars. And I hadn't seen Syrtis Major since 2003!
