Thats nice piece of work, can I ask what kind of wood do you use to make up the new base, and did you recoat or replace the white tubing?

Dave,
I have used beechwood melamine 12mm (embossed).
Black colour - Metallic paint (Autobase Sikkens Akzo) mixed with elastic active.
