baader hyperion eyepiece weight?

Hi guys I hope you are all well. I got a voucher for Ktec telescopes from my parents. I decided to go for a 13mm Hyperion eyepiece as i've been thinking for quite a while to upgrade my celestron eyepieces that I bought in that case I am sure you are all familiar with. What surprised me whar how heavy it is. I have a cpc 1100 and this eyepiece is heavier than the finder scope on the cpc. It actually took the scope out of alignment. And focus. I haven't used it since. But I have noticed that there are different parts that you can screw off. Should I screw off some parts to make it lighter and more usable? Because if its weight can do that to an 11" sct what would it do to an 8" reflector. Apologies but I am only kind of new at higher end eyepieces. In fact it is the first one i've ever bought.

Hello Neil 40. 

Your 13mm Hyperion should weigh 41 grammes. 
So please check that before you try modifying it. 
Weights of eyepieces are always important to consider before one purchase. 

By the way, Hyperion eyepieces are extremely good.

I had Hyperions many years ago and I never found any issues with weight, I had an 8" SCT at the time.  I never used it except in the 1.25" mode, mainly because I had no 2" diagonal.

I don't understand when you say it took the scope out of alignment.  An eyepiece weighing 41 grammes should not do this.

Thank you dot the Aubrey. I suppose I just have a lot to learn about eyepieces. The celestron eyepieces were just so lite in comparison. I need to do a little more homework before I buy a higher end eyepiece again. People think astronomy takes up your time out the back garden with your scope. Most of the time is actually taken up with research into what will work/what can I afford/why did gift the scope I did etc! But thanks for your reply. I hope you are well..

Hi Paul. Thank you for the reply. I will check out that link once I get home from work. 
But I can clear up some of the confusion of why my scope lost its alignment. I was very nervous showing a whole group of people objects in space through the scope so I had about 6 cans of Guinness throughout the observing session. I am pretty sure it was me who took the scope out of alignment. And also the 9 year old kid who thought is was a toy! Thanks for the link. Beer and astronomy dont mix! Unless of course someone else is controlling the scope!

If you think the Hyperion is heavy, wait til you get your hands on a 31mm Nagler or Explore Scientifc, guys in the gym use them for weight training.

My own experience with booze and astronomy was one night when I got out of a taxi and wondered why there were two Jupiters in the sky, man, was I wasted.
