Cpc hand controller displays "no response 17" was created by Neil40
Hi all I hope everyone is ok. A couple of days ago my cpc simply stopped working and the hand controller displayed "no response 17". I have read that it can be a few different things. I pressed back a few times as is recommended on the Celestron website. It kinda worked. By that I mean the HC displayed Nextstar instead of cpc which never happened before and when I pressed Skyallgn it asked me to manually input time/location etc. Has anyone ever had this issue before? I have read it could be the HC but also read that a guy tried a second HC and had the same problem. I am worried it might be an issue with the computer. I know its a very specific issue but I dont think we have a shop in Ireland that fix scopes anymore. Maybe in the past.
Thank guys.
Neil.

Hi guys/ladys after 2 months or so I finally got my Cpc working again. It was a very long road and also a massive learning curve. I started by opening up my cpc. Nothing seemed to be wrong. Long story short I got some feedback from cloudy nights. People were sure it was the hand controller. So I got a new hand controller (which was bloody expensive). That did not fix the issue. Then I ordered a new motor board. Did not fix the problem. I unplugged the gps. No joy. Finally I ordered the 2 cheapest boards. The hc/aux board and the pc/ag board. The problem was the pc/ag board. The cheapest board/part you can buy. At this stage I have enough spare parts to build a new cpc! I think Celestron should give you a clue of where the the problem is when you get an error. I am happy that I finally got my scope working again but the error 17/16 can mean anything. Its touch and go. If you happen to guess the correct board that died than thats fine. But I spent quite a bit off money buying parts that I did not need.
Anyway I am hoping to image Mars on Wednesday so maybe I can post it here. Thank guys.

Sounds like such an ordeal. Glad to read you got it sorted in the end though, and looking forward seeing your images of Mars Neil.

Yea it was a pain. Especially when we had Jupiter and Saturn so high in the sky. Although I didnt waste my time. I decided to try and identify constellations. Lets just say my neighbours must think I am a nutter! It is quite hard to identity anything when we have such terrible light pollution in Dublin. However I did learn quite a lot by just looking up.
Thanks
Neil
