Stephen,
I have an Orion collimating eyepiece, which I got from Telescope House for a small amount of money (can't remember exactly how much, but it was in the low 10s), and which has worked well for me (see here for more details). See here for an excellent guide to collimating a Dobsonian telescope.

Simon - that's what I read recently.
Its a shame that 'laser collimaters' are seen by beginners as the end to their collimation problems.

Thanks guys, Dave mcDonald came out and showed me what Im looking for, and loaned me his 'hi tec' equipment to collimate it, right Dave
The secondary was the main worry, and like I thought, it was off a bit. Now that Dave showed me how to do it, I just need a clear night to tweek the primary a bit on a star.
