Darren,

I bought it from Astronomy Ireland. 2995Euro is what it cost.

I should add that the price has dropped since then. SO you might wanna check out the STG price first.

Apparantly the XLT impvroves the Light gathering power by 16% so working this out, my 9.25" scope has the LGP of a 10" non XLT scope.

I always thought that these numbers (and the coatings) were a gimmick. Until I started seriously looking for a scope and came across a review of Meades UHT coating ( www.arksky.org/uhtc_compare.htm ). The tests actually exceed Meades marketing numbers. It made it worth the extra money, and Meade made the coating standard.

I'd imaine that the XLT coatings are somewhat similar.

The only problem (avantage?) is that it scares you from cleaning the optics at all!

Good luck with the new toy!

Cheers,

cheers Al,

Your right, I'm scared to hell to even breath near the corrector plate. The XLT specs say the increase in light gathering power is 16%. This brings a 9.25" closer to the LGP of a 10". Signiificant I think. I'd also imagine Meades UHTC offering is similar, one or the other probably nicked the specs anyway!
