Telescope- Budget €200 was created by dpower
Hi Folks,

A friend of mine wants to buy a scope as a present for her daughter. The budget is €200. Any suggestions??

Cheers,

Dave - I have a spare Skylux if she's interested. I'll throw in a bunch of decent eyepieces, a lunar filter, software and some 'getting started' material.

The OTA performs very well - the mount isn't great but then my expectations of a mount would presumably be not even in the same Ball-Park as your friend's. For a beginner scope, its a great little mount.

I still have the original boxes too so it'll look brand-new.

Let me know if you're friend might be interested.

By the way, she'll only be spending half her budget.

Cheers

That's extremely generous of you Dave :)

You got a pic of the thing I could pass on to her? (even a web pic)

Dave - this is the only pic I could find. I don;t understand German but the pic tells it all...

Note that I don't have the motor drives but I'll throw in the bits I mentioned before - better eyepieces and a lunar filter plus Carte du Ciel and some other bumph (I've a planisphere and book that's great for beginners)

The Skylux is a 70mm refractor a la Meade ETX70 - but it has a longer focal length. Optically, I think it pips the ETX - less colour fringe in my opinion. In fact, I only used it once on the mount/tripod supplied. I used the OTA a few times on the 1200 ( ). Its as good as new and has all original packing.

Its a great first scope - really - at a bargain basement price.

I'm tempted to buy that myself)))) Looks a lot more sturdy than my ETX too, not to mention the optics.
I'll pass the good word along. Much appreciated Dave. :D
