Any bikers out there? was created by jeyjey
Someone on CloudyNights was talking about using a 12-volt heated motorcycle vest in his observatory. Sounded like just the ticket for cold nights.
Anyone know if they sell such a thing on this side of the pond?
Thanks,
-- Jeff.

Jeff - I know you can get heated motorcycle underwear - tops, leggings, gloves and socks. Not sure where you might get them here in Ireland but they'd probably be cheaper in the UK even including shipping charges.
Have a look here: www.heated-motorcycle-clothing.co.uk/index.html

Its a good idea, I was thinking a small electric blanket, just to cover the legs when sitting looking through the scope, its much cheaper, but with all that damp there might be a chance of a shock

Dave --
I also started with the electric blanket idea, but it seems like I'd be heating the air around it as much as my legs, and that might lead to thermal currents under the dome. Granted, I'm sitting behind the scope, so it shouldn't matter much....
But a vest (worn under a fleece and/or coat) wouldn't have this problem at all. I did some more searching and these things are much cheaper in the States (OK, isn't everything?). Anyway, here's a URL for the current leading candidate:
