If you want to be able to hold the Binocualrs in your hand then 20X really is the upper limit and even that is pushing it some what. Even if you have a tripod I can see no reason to use high magnifcation with Binoculkars because you donlt have the lighgathering poower to be abel to actually see anything other than maybe the moon at highmagnification with binoculars.
Also, the big field of view is one of teh advantages of binoculars, they let you see big things that you just can;t see with a Telescope.
The nicest Binoculars I have ever used were 10x80s (they needed a tripod because they were very heavy) but the view though them was stunning!
