New 20" telescope from Celestron was created by michaeloconnell
Celestron have announced yet another new telescope.
It's a 20" f/6.8 Dall-Kirkham on a massive A-P 1200 class GEM. The scope is an open-truss design using carbon fiber rods to connect the secondary cage to an intermediate ring then to the rear cell. There are three cooling fans on the primary mirror cell to quickly get the 20†mirror down to ambient temperature when observing. The optical tube is installed on a 120 lb. fully computerized go-to German equatorial mount with a 180 pound payload capacity. The mount’s 360-tooth main drive gear is 9†in diameter.
However, the bad news: The new scope is expected to be priced between $30,000 to $50,000 in the US.
Ok, now where did I leave my piggy-bank.....
Michael
P.S. I deliberately restrained myself from any jokes regarding how many million euro this will cost from Ireland's sole Celestron dealer.

Is it time to re-mortgage the house ???
Is it time to tell the bank manager that I want
to re-model the place and need a loan.
I think its time to get serious about winning the lottery....
On a more serios note,
After the review of the 14" CGE scope in Sky and Telescope, celestron would be much better off reducing the CGE PEC error and improving its tracking then spending its time on humungous scopes that only lottery winners can afford.
Whats the point in buying a GOTO scope if it cant track ??
