New MAxmount GEM for 20" RCX400, 400lbs load!!!

For those who have 30,000E sitting around.
Meade are releasing the MaxMount german equatorial mount. On it will be the 20" RCX400, apparently this mount will be rated to hold an unbelievable 400 lbs of weight.
The worm gear is a true worm and is over 13 inches across.
None of this is confirmed, but if its true then it must be one amazing beast of a system.

You really could sit on this thing and let it point you all over the sky :shock:

What will make or break this system is the PEC, hopefully it'll be good.

What'll make or break it will be the price! Can't see it flying off the shelves at 30 grand... Even with an RCX400 on top. The SSIA won;t cover it anyhow

Its not cheap, but if they throw in the deckchair attachment, I'd consider it. :lol:

To put it in perspective, the mount + tube + counterweights weight nearly 1/4 of a ton! (if fully loaded), imagine the shipping costs :shock:

Thats a 20" scope on top of that monster !!!
Apparently it has 2 arc second tracking ability and sub arcsecond ability when pempro is used.
