Yep, looking for one now after CSP, after the one I had (Baader, though I think it was Mylar), had some teeny weeny pinholes in its coating I discovered today (must have been Mylar so).
Anyone have a filter for an ETX? With the eclipse in mind, would I go for one like Michael O'Connell has here (a Coronado one) for the physical surface detail, or a stright-up Baader style one, for the lighting?
Seanie.

Hi Seanie
I would have said white light for the eclipse, but there are experts out there who would guide you better than me.
For info., we have one PST left and should have a proper glass Orion white light filter for the ETX 70 in stock.
If interested, we will hold the CSP price for you. Again for info / comparison.

Hi Seanie
Can't remember whether we chatted about this or not already.

All white light filters in stock are € 95
The PST ( same as Michaels CSP special ) is € 695[/b]
Hope this helps with the choice.

Ps. Where are you going.

Seanie, I have a white light 1000 Oaks job like the lads were selling, and I find it just great.
I bought it with my Celestron 80mm in mind. I have strips of velcro lining the inside for a very snug and scratch free fit.
While the filter would be a tad too big for the ETX 70, it happens that the dew shield for the ETX 70 is WIDER than the barrell of the C80. So all I have to do is peel off a strip of velcro and hay presto it fits neatly on that too!
Also fits on to the suncap of the 350D 300mm zoom lens.

Thanks guys.
Jimmy,
I saw them at Galway, funny how AFTER the eventI seem to be asking these questions now! Its a good investment for the price too. I'll have to save up a bit first though.
Paul,
thanks for backing that up.
The other option I have is a Baader filter of course. I have a couple sheets of the stuff already, so I can make expendable ones.
Still, thanks for the feedback!

Seanie,
You mention you had a couple of sheets of Baader filter. Is it the AstroSolar Filter Densitiy 5??
If so can you let me know where you purchased it ? I've been looking for it recently as a cheap way of making my first solar filter, and the UK source David Hinds doesn't like Irish Credit cards. If you'd care to part with a sheet I would happily re-imburse you.
For anyone else looking to make a cheap yet safe solar filter follow this link:
