11 x 80mm Binoculars was created by Keith g
Hi all, I'm considering buying a pair of 11 x 80mm binoculars for observing, I've heard of opticron and helios that do these binos.

Have any of you any experience with these? They have a 4.5 degree field of view, but are they too heavy to hold after a while??

For any decent binocular observing, even 10x50s benefit from a tripod. You can see the stars with no streaks or shakes.

11x80 sound like a great combination as this will give you an 8mm exit pupil. The average person can have around a 5-7mm pupil so you could go for a higher magnification like 13x80 if available. Look for BaK-4 glass and multi-coated.

Thanks Mark, I'm just concerned at the field of view, if it's too small, it can be very frustrating for astro observation - been there - wore the t-shirt with my 1.25* fov x20-100 70mm binos

I think the 11x80 would be nice, a 4.5* fov, and not to heavy, but for sure i'd get a tripod also, and bak-4!!

Thanks Mark!
