Hi All
The following may be of use if you are having problems with binoculars
I recently decided that my pair of 20X80's needed some fine tuning as my eyes were slightly strained when observing..searching the internet I found a few resouces on collimating binoculars, particularly the cloudy nights site.
Happy with the info to hand I proceeded to knock them way out of collimation and thought that I would never get them perfect. Eventually I lucked out and got them bang on....except for the cats eye appearance of the right eyepiece. I did not mind, as they managed to separate mizar into its components. and were giving wonderful views.
However, striving to get the most out of the binoculars, I had to try and get rid of the cats eye. So I tackled them again at lunchtime, this time getting a perfect circle in the right eyepiece, and then alligning the left with the right...
My Key Finding was as follows
The screw in the following picture will move the image and exit pupil to the left or right.
and the screw in this pic, seems to move image up/down but slightly diagonally.
The binoculars are a standard pair of cheapo 20X80's (barska)
