Coronado PST was created by Neill
Hi all,
I was very impressed with the views through the PST in Turkey and had a few questions about them. On various sites the price is £475, do you just get the actual scope for that? Do either the mini tripod or hard carrying case come with it? Also I see that there is PST CaK now available - does anyone have opinions on it? BTW I am processing my eclipse pics so hopefully soon they will be ready.
Thanks
Neill

Neill,
The price of the PST as you've indicated does not include a case or tripod. However, it should include an eyepiece
.
As for the PST CaK, from what I understand it's a different animal altogether. I've heard that it's more aimed at photography rather than the visual. Apparently, about 50% of people will not see any detail if they look through a PST CaK - however, that's only something I've heard. How true that is I don't know. Best to contact Coronado or your dealer to confirm.
Clear skies,

I haven't heard of anyone using the mini tripod but I do recommend getting the hard case as an optional extra, especially if you're going to travel around with it.
While I've read reports from some observers that they can use the PST CaK visually, the image is much dimmer than a normal PST and many people can't see any detail at all; it's really designed as an imaging instrument to show the CaK layer only, not H-Alpha, so best to get the standard H-Alpha PST first.
